St. Alphonsa Catholic Church Austin, Texas

St. Alphonsa Catholic Church, located in Austin Texas, is a Catholic parish under the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago. The community began in 2001 when a small group of Catholics belonging to the Syro-Malabar Rite gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Varghese for Holy Mass. From that point on, the community has grown over the years both spiritually and in number. It was in 2008 that this community was recognized as a Mission under the St. Thomas Catholic Diocese. In 2014 we finally had a place we could call ours. On November 8th 2014, our community was elevated from mission status to full parish by His Excellency Bishop Mar Jacob Angadiath and the Auxiliary Bishop Mar Joy Alappatt of St. Thomas Catholic Diocese of Chicago. Currently, we have over 130 families, a Parish Center and our Church sits in a 23 acre land of natural scenery. Our current vicar is Fr. Anto G Alappat.
